Coimbatore, also known as Kovai, is the second largest urban agglomeration of Tamil Nadu after Chennai. With over 52,000 micro, small and medium scale units, Coimbatore is one of the fastest growing tier-II cities in India and a major hub for textiles, pumps & motors manufacturing, light engineering, precision machining for auto component, textile machinery and garage equipment, foundries, educational, information technology, software services, healthcare and manufacturing industries. Often termed the 'Manchester of South India,' the city houses a large number of textile spinning and weaving mills.
