US, India should expand trade: Hillary Clinton

Washington and New Delhi must 'continue to expand trade and investment', US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said. The two countries, she added, have to work to meet the challenges and seize opportunities in South and Central Asia.

Addressing a joint press conference with External Affairs Minister SM Krishna, Clinton said: "We have to continue to expand trade and investment."

"We should be working to having one of the world's largest trading ties," she said.

She added that the US and India are 'two great democracies… with increasingly converging interests'.

While looking to India for 'a broad international partnership on Iran', she wanted pressure to be maintained on Tehran to bring it to the diplomatic table.

on May 8, Clinton wraps up her three-day visit that saw her meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
