Tourism hots up in Himachal as weather cools

The recent spate of hail, snow and rain in parts of Himachal Pradesh has hottened up tourism in the state, reports India Today. An influx of tourists has been noted into the state, bringing cheer to the tourism industry.

Snowfall was recently experienced in Rohtang in Kullu district and parts of Kinnaur, Lahaul and Spiti, drastically bringing down temperatures in popular Himachal tourist destinations like Manali, Kufri, Kullu, Dharamshala, Chail, Kufri and Shimla. Shimla also received over 10mm of rainfall.

Minimum temperatures in Shimla and Manali have dropped to 12.1 degrees and 12 degrees respectively, which is 2.5 degrees and 1.5 degrees below normal.

CS Thakur, owner of a Manali-based hotel, stated: "We are already going full, and the fresh snowfall and rains have added to the attraction. The hotels are jam-packed, as the cool weather is attracting more people from the plains to Himachal."
