Modi keen on promoting sports tourism in Gujarat

 
Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, expressed an interest in promoting sports tourism in the state, reports IBN Live. He stated that a number of sports events would be held in the state as a part of this initiative.

Modi was speaking at the inauguration of the 29th Sub-Junior National Aquatic Championship-2012 at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Municipal Swimming Pool in Rajkot. Digambar Kamat, ex-Chief Minister of Goa and the President of the Swimming Federation of India (SFI), as well as Dinsha Patel, the Union Minister of State for Mines and the President of the Gujarat Aquatic Association were present at the event.

In his inaugural speech, Modi talked about the good performance of Gujarat at various national sports events over the last 10 years.

"Sports is one of the biggest industries, with business running into trillions of dollars. Gujarat is keen to promote sports tourism by hosting the maximum number of sport events," Modi stated.
