Kerala tourism department keen to promote F1 demo drive

The Tourism Department of Kerala has expressed an interest in promoting the demo F1 drive to be held by the country’s first-ever F1 driver, Narain Karthikeyan, reports The Times of India.

The Kerala government had, earlier in the week, announced its decision to inaugurate an F1 track in the state, to promote tourism. Karthikeyan approached Tourism Minister AP Anil Kumar to seek help from the state government in his test drive.

"Yes, Kerala is known as a tourist destination and hence a race track in the state will certainly boost tourism earnings," Karthikeyan stated.

Kumar stated that the state government will try its best to ensure that the demo drive is a success.

"This is such a novel idea. I have a fair idea of what it entails. Kerala tourism department is definitely keen to promote an F1 demo drive,” Kumar stated.
