The work on the Jaipur Metro is to be completed in two phases. Of this, 55 percent work on the first phase has been completed, and the engineers are working hard to complete the remaining work of this phase.
Under the first phase, which is called IA, the Metro train would run between Mansarovar and Chandpole covering a distance of 9.718km. Similarly, under the second leg of the first phase, called-IB, the Metro train would run from Chandpole to Bari Chaupar covering a distance of 2.349km.
There will be three underground and eight elevated stations in the first phase. The total expenditure on this phase of the project would be about INR3,149 crore.
Likewise, in the second phase, the Metro train would run from Sitapura to Ambabari covering a distance of 23.099km on which INR6,581 crore would be spent.
There would be five underground and 15 elevated stations in the second phase.
The state government had given the work of the first phase of Jaipur Metro to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on August 5, 2010.
The operation and maintenance of the first phase would be carried by the newly-formed Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation.
DMRC has already given the order for the supply of rolling stock (rail wagons) to BEML, and has also given the work order to a company for signalling and telecom supply.
According to official information, the state government has to acquire 50 hectares of land for the project. Of this, the state government has already transferred 23.69 hectares land, and the remaining 26.31 hectare land is soon to be identified and transferred.
The work on the second phase of the project is proposed to be done on public-private partnership (PPP) model. For this, requests for quotation (RFQs) have already been issued and after the technical evaluation of the RFQs, four national and multi-national companies, including Reliance Infrastructure Limited, Gammon Infrastructure-Iridium Concession, Soma-I.C.F. and Essar projects-Samsung C-N.T., have been selected for requests for proposal (RFPs).
