India requests ratification of Zimbabwe treaty

 
India has ratified the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement, and has called for early implementation of the treaty. The country also expressed interest in co-operating with Zimbabwe in different sectors.

India has asked Zimbabwe to ratify the Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement that was signed in 1999.

During a meeting with Zimbabwe Vice President Joice Mujuru, Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma called for early implementation of the deal. India has ratified the agreement.

Sharma said India had special interest in co-operating with Zimbabwe in mining, power, railway, information and communication technology and agriculture.

Bilateral trade between India and Zimbabwe almost doubled in four years. It rose to USD125 million in 2010-11 from USD64.02 million in 2006-07.
