SupportBiz talks to Arnab, CEO of B-Plan Experts.
Tell us about the background of the founders…
I am an MBA from the SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, and a graduate in Electronics & Communications Engineering. I have worked with some big names like American Express, Wachovia, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and ICICI in the fields of consulting and financial services.
Sauvik, our COO, is an MBA from the University of Leeds. He has considerable experience in business consulting strategy and transformation, having worked for major consulting firms in the UK across diverse industries. He has also set up a green-field manufacturing organization, where he provided project management and marketing support.
How did B-Plan Experts come about?
In the course of his work, Arnab sensed a gap in the consulting services for SMEs in India and on a global scale too, which led to the formation of Array Consultancy Services in 2008. A couple of years into the consulting space, the team realized that there is a huge demand for professional business plan consulting and in January 2010, B-Plan Experts was launched.

A majority of Indian entrepreneurs do not believe in structured planning; however, the trend is changing very fast.
What are your expansion plans?
We are in a phase of expansion, both geographically and through our service portfolio. We are also looking at launching nationwide entrepreneurship incubation and training institution in the near future.
What are the major entrepreneurship trends arising in India?
Many traditional businesses are trying to get themselves structured and starting afresh. Fields like health-care, manufacturing, and agriculture are also attracting the attention of entrepreneurs. Having said that, technology is still the predominant industry, that entrepreneurs are eyeing.
Indian entrepreneurship is growing in a huge way, and has immense potential.
What advice would you give to an aspiring entrepreneur?
Get ready to work really hard, beyond all your imagination. Invest in planning; it is a must. As the old saying goes, ‘Failing to plan is planning to fail’.
