Goa Tourism to ink MoU with Himachal Pradesh

 
The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) is all set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) soon. The Times of India reports that this move will help greatly in boosting tourism in both states.

This announcement was made by Sanjay Chodnekar, General Manager (Marketing), GTDC.

GTDC has already signed similar MoUs with the tourism corporations in Gujarat, Meghalaya, Rajasthan, Sikkim and West Bengal. It has also sent proposals for signing such MoUs to Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and Puducherry. A favourable response is expected soon from Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.

Under the MoU between GTDC and HPTDC, both states will market each other as tourist destinations, and citizens of both states can book holiday packages in the other state. The possibility of joint package tours of both states is also being considered.

Both Goa and Himachal Pradesh will receive commission equal to 15 percent of the actual sale value in case of hotel accommodation booked in the other state. The commission received in case of booking of tourism packages will be 10 percent of the actual sales value.

In addition, the tourism corporations of both states will have a kiosk promoting tourism in the other state at their counters in Shimla and Panaji.
