The Hindu Business Line reports that exports from April 2011 to February 2012 have been noted at 3.35 lakh tonnes, valued at INR771.08 crore. Exports during the corresponding period in the last year were recorded at 2.80 lakh tonnes, worth INR716.20 crore.
The value of the exports has shown a rise of eight percent.
The export figure is estimated to be around INR1,000 crore for the financial year 2011-12.
The US is the largest market of India’s coir and related products. The UK, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Australia, France, Canada, Japan, Greece and UAE are some of the other major markets.
