Attano has recently introduced a new concept called ChapterBuy. In an exclusive conversation with SupportBiz, Soumya Banerjee, CEO, Attano, spoke about ChapterBuy and his company’s overall strategy for next-level growth.

What is the price range for ChapterBuy on Attano?
ChapterBuy starts at just Rs. 3. The median price point across the 10,000+ chapters we are offering is approximately Rs. 40.
How many books are expected to be covered under the ChapterBuy scheme?
The first launch of ChapterBuy covers over 900 e-books and 10,000 chapters. This is primarily aimed at higher education e-books, including both graduate and post-graduate studies in subjects like management, engineering, commerce, arts and sciences, as well as competitive exams.
What is your customer acquisition strategy for ChapterBuy?
All Attano e-books and chapters can be read in the free Attano reader, which is available for personal computers (Windows PC and laptops), Android tablets and iPads. These e-books can be bought from the Attano website (attano.com), and then downloaded into the reader in a matter of minutes. Once the book/chapter is downloaded, one does not need internet connectivity to read them later.
Ease in transacting is a very important consideration for online buyers. What is your take on this?
A student can pick and choose the chapters he/she desires to purchase from an eligible e-book on our website. It is as simple as selecting chapters from the index of a book. Once that is done, the student can pay online or use his/her Attano wallet, which can be recharged using a credit/debit card, by online transfer, or depositing a cheque.
What are the plans that you have for ChapterBuy?
Attano is optimistic of ChapterBuy being successful, because it solves a need which has been a pain point for students and publishers alike. A college student usually studies a subject using multiple books and, so far, their options were to line up at the library, read from faded photocopies, or spend a lot of money on buying all the books. Now, ChapterBuy gives them the option of buying chapters at micro prices, something which is convenient and legal. For publishers, Attano’s technology-led offering creates a new market, unlocks value for the entire ecosystem, and thwarts the threat of piracy.
