Puducherry, January 2: In what could be a boost to MSMEs in Puducherry, TN, a Tools and Technology Development Centre is likely to come in the region at a cost of Rs 100 crore. The territorial administration has apparently identified three probable sites for developing the proposed tool center.
The proposed Tool and Technology center coming up in Sedarapet is one of the six centres announced by Central government in its 2013-14 Budget, The Hindu reports (Read Full Story). The MSME Ministry looks to provide testing and training for entrepreneurship development through this center in addition to assisting them on preparation of projects and product profile.
Citing informed sources, The Hindu reports that the project is likely to come up in the seven acres of land at Sedarapet as it meets all the parameters for setting up the centre. As the project is already in the possession of government, the process of acquisition of land too can be avoided. A communication of to this effect is likely to be passed to the MSME Ministry shortly, the report said. According to the sources, the ground breaking ceremony might be held in February and the project is likely to complete in 24 months.
