Hyderabad, January 16: The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is organizing a one-day ‘agri-business fair’ for agricultural business innovators and entrepreneurs in Hyderabad. The event will be held at the ICRISAT headquarters at Patancheru near Hyderabad on January 17.
The agri-business fair will offer an ideal opportunity for start-up entrepreneurs to explore various opportunities in the agri-business sector. The fair will be conducted by the Agri-Business Incubation (ABI) Programme of ICRISAT, The Times of India reports.
“It will also act as a platform for participants to present their agro-technology or business ideas for incubation support. Some of the ideas might get incubation support from the ABI programme,” Kiran Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of ICRISAT’s Agribusiness and Innovation Platform (AIP), said.
The ABI programme is an institutional innovation system that encourages the creation of competitive agri-business enterprises through technology development and commercialization to benefit farmers in the semi-arid tropics. "Programs such as these contribute to the sustainable transformation of Indian agricultural sector from an orientation of primarily food self-sufficiency to one in which market orientation is equally important for poverty alleviation and income generation," Kiran Sharma was quoted as saying to the publication.
