Chennai: Lauding the governance and infrastructure in Tamil Nadu, China’s Ambassador to India Wei Wei said that the southern State was a preferred destination for Chinese investment.
The Ambassador, who called on Governor of Tamil Nadu K Rosaiah at Raj Bhavan recently, was all praise for the State’s governance and said, “The State’s industry-friendly climate attracts more investment.”
He said that China was one of the world’s fastest growing economies in terms of both purchasing power parity (PPP) and nominal GDP.
Speaking about the State’s relationship with China in terms of educational exchange, Wei said, “Of the 3,000 Chinese students in India, about 600 are in Tamil Nadu alone.”
Rosaiah said Tamil Nadu was the second largest contributor to India’s GDP and excelled in a variety of industries, citing tourism and automobile industries as examples.
The Governor and the Ambassador both called for increased cooperation and collaboration between China and Tamil Nadu.
“There is a need for increased collaboration between China and India, especially Tamil Nadu,” said Wei Wei.
