Online services, that facilitate the submission of new patent applications, were rolled out way back in 2007, according to a media release by the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks.
Apart from filing new applications, users can now file subsequent applications as well. The revamped online service now allows you to,
- Login using either your user-ID or your digital signature
- File all prescribed forms along with prescribed fees for registration of patents
- Own and manage personal folders in the Patent Office environment
Users will need a ‘class III digital signature’ and an internet banking account to use the online service. At present, the payment gateways of the State Bank of India and Axis Bank have been integrated into the system. More payment gateways will be integrated in due course, the media release said.
The patent office claims that the online service has been simplified and that transaction errors are a thing of the past. The link to the online patent filing portal is available here.
