Fresh fruit bouquets from Fruitz Koncepts

 
New Delhi-based Fruitz Koncepts has introduced a unique and innovative concept of ‘fresh fruit bouquets’ for the first time in India. These 100 percent edible assortments of exotic fresh fruits meant for gifting or snacking are available across New Delhi, Ghaziabad, Noida, Faridab ad and Gurgaon.

Founded in July, 2010, Fruitz Koncepts operates ‘Fruit Hubs’ to serve fruit-based products like salads, juices and smoothies.  

SupportBiz spoke with Neha Sharma, the founder of Fruitz Koncepts. Edited excerpts:

Tell us about your background…

I am a food technologist. I worked with India’s largest industry association, CII, and in a private company for four years before I chose entrepreneurship and started Fruitz Koncepts. I started the venture as a sole proprietorship, and later, turned  it into a private limited company with the name Fruitz Koncepts India. It is now being run by three women directors, including me.

How did the idea of starting Fruitz Koncepts come about?

I am a fruit lover. While working in the food sector, I realized that a variety of fruits are amply available in India, but we are underutilizing this amazing gift of nature. Additionally, our market is significantly overshadowed by junk food when it comes to partying or snacking. This kept popping into my mind until I decided to make it work. I decided to make a difference in people’s preference over their snacks or party gifts with the concept of ‘fresh fruit bouquets’ and ‘fruit hubs’.

Where in India are your products available?

We are based in New Delhi, with our workshop and our fruit hubs are operational in the NCR region. We have fruit hubs at the Pacific Mall, Kaushambi and Mahagun Metro Mall, Vaishali.

For our fresh fruit bouquets, our online store is available to customers across the globe. We offer delivery of these bouquets across Delhi and the NCR i.e. Ghaziabad, Noida, Gurgaon and Faridabad.  

What is your USP?

A brand which serves fresh fruits in the form of a bouquet is a very unique venture in itself in the Indian market. Also (we believe)our fruit hubs will create a buzz in the market, similar to what Café Coffee Day has done for coffee lovers.

Tell us about the initial investment needed to start Fruitz Koncepts….

When we began as a proprietorship firm, an investment of about Rs one-lakh was required to set up the workshop and tools to create bouquets. Once the venture took a step up as a private limited company, and we started fruit bouquet workshops and opened up fruit hubs, we needed a capital of Rs. 15 lakh.

What are the major challenges you face?

Our major challenge is to keep pace with fluctuating fruit prices and costs of operation (i.e. fuel prices, etc.).

Who are your target customers?

Our customers are kids, youngsters, adults and elders. Anyone and everyone who love uniqueness, health and creativity.

How big is your team?

We area team of 10 people, including fruit bouquet chefs, fruit hub executives and a delivery boy.

How have customer reactions been to Fruitz Koncepts?

People have welcomed our product, and have taken to this unique concept in a very appreciative way. They have ordered from us, given us suggestions about new assortments possible and new leads. The brand is gaining popularity.

Tell us about your tie-ups with other organizations….

We have tied up with some esteemed spas, salons and event management companies across Delhi, which help us in promoting our product in their premises and to their customers.

Also, we are now in the process of developing tie-ups with corporates and other potential organizations where our fruit bouquets can be taken as gifts.

How do you market your business?

With our online store i.e. website, we use SEO as a tool to market ourselves, online, worldwide.

Secondly, Fruitz Koncepts keeps participating in exhibitions during festivals, which helps people choose our fruit bouquets for gifting to their loved ones.

We are also quite active on Facebook and Twitter.

What are your expansion plans?

Fruitz Koncepts is now looking forward to venture capital investment to facilitate us in the propagation of our healthy concept in every city across the country. Next, we aim to open walk-in stores in Delhi and bring this concept closer to every person out there.

What are the major trends you  notice in the market you are trying to capture?

We notice a continuous demand for our unique products, and definitely a major inclination towards healthier options. This trend of eating healthier is here to stay, and this is the best time to have rolled out our product.

What have been your major learnings from business?

Business is not just about selling your product and earning profit. It goes much beyond that. An entrepreneur needs to learn his business from the root level, from how to plan, create, assemble, test and operationalise it, to keeping it going.

Also, it is crucial to handle customers very carefully and understand what they expect from you. This is one of the most important parts of entrepreneurship.
