
Surat, December 17: The Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and the Surat Diamond Association (SDA) has jointly organized India’s first Gems and Jewellery Machinery Expo (IGJME) in the country’s diamond polishing hub Surat from December 13-15, reports TNN.
The three-day event, inaugurated by Energy Minister Saurabh Patel, was participated by over 100 national and international companies displaying products and services under various segments like, jewellery manufacturing machinery, diamond manufacturing machinery, gemstones manufacturing machinery, tolls and equipment and allied services etc.
Talking at the event, Vipul Shah, chairman, GJEPC said, "The Indian jewellery manufacturing industry is yet to achieve the required export growth due to the minimal penetration of latest jewellery manufacturing technology and equipment. IGJME will provide an insight into the world of cutting-edge technology to the Indian manufacturers."
The modern day jewellery manufacturing involves utilization of a variety of technologies including laser machines, computerized yield-planning machines, advanced bruiting lathes, diamond impregnated scaiv etc. Dinesh Navadia, president, SDA said, "Technology upgradation leads to positive developments in manufacturing unit. It helps speed up processes, lowers cost of production and enables optimum usage of resources."
