Coimbatore is all set to host an international conference on branding, christened ‘Globalisation is Irreversible: Need for Branding India Inc and Making MSMEs Competitive’. The two-day conference begins March 2.
The conference is being jointly organized by Sree Saraswati Thyagaraja College, Pollachi. Making the announcement, S Venkatesh, the secretary of the college, stated that the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector contributed 45 percent of the country’s industrial output and 40 percent of its export, providing employment to more than 60 million people.
MSMEs produce over eight thousand products for the domestic and international markets, thanks to the various initiatives taken by the Centre.
M Kandhaswami, president of the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association, stated that the government has helped create opportunities for Indian MSMEs by opening up new markets for them through joint ventures and sharing of best practices and technology, The Hindu Business Line reports.
M Govinda Rao, a member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council, along with the director of the National Institute of Public Finance and Policy, Delhi, are expected to inaugurate the conference. More than 250 delegates are anticipated to take part in the conference.
