Minister requests funds for new textile park in HP

 
Himachal Pradesh provides employment to over 4,000 weavers in the traditional handloom and handicrafts industries.

Kishan Kapoor, Minister of Industries for Himachal Pradesh, has requested the Centre to provide funds to set up another textile park in the state. Kapoor was speaking at a meeting organized by the Commerce and Industry Ministry in New Delhi. Kapoor stated that the textile park that was recently sanctioned by the textile ministry in the district of Una had received a good response, according to an MSN.com report “The state has immense potential for textile industries.

"One more park should be set up in Kangra district,” Kapoor stated. The State provides employment to over 4,000 weavers in the traditional handloom and handicrafts industries. Kapoor has made a request to the Centre to provide state-of-the-art equipment to the weavers, as well as an open depot for raw material and facilities for skill upgradation and training to the wearers.
