Gujarat to develop Saputara as tourist destination

The hill station of Saputara in Gujarat is all set to be developed as a tourist destination, reports The Times of India. The Tourism Corporation of Gujarat (TCGL) has plans to attract tourists from Maharashtra to Saputara.

A large number of tourists from the state of Gujarat visit Vani, a religious tourism spot in Nashik, Maharashtra, via Saputara. TCGL wishes to attract tourists visiting Vani and other parts of Maharashtra to Saputara, stated Kamlesh Patel, Chairman of TCGL. He stated that the good road connectivity between Vani and Saputara will help them achieve this end.

Patel stated that Saputara would be promoted as a honeymoon destination. He declared that an agency appointed by TCGL would study the tourism potential of various spots in Gujarat, including Saputara.

Almost 60,000 tourists visited Saputara in the year 2011-12. Patel declared TCGL’s goal of increasing this number by 15 percent in 2012-13.
