President Pranab Mukherjee conferred the awards at a function in New Delhi.
Kesoram Cement, situated at Basantnagar, Karimnagar district of Andhra Pradesh, has bagged the award for the years 2008 and 2010, while Vasavadatta Cement, situated in Gulbarga district of Karnataka, has received the award for 2009.
Both these units have been awarded for their "lowest injury rate" under the large size mechanized open cast limestone mining category.
The ministry of labour and employment here organised the "National Safety Awards (Mines)" for the years 2008, 2009 and 2010.
K.C. Jain, director and senior president of Vasavadatta Cement, who received the awards on behalf of the firm, said the honour would motivate firms to further improve their safety features.
"For us, the first priority is safety. The award will motivate us to improve it further," Jain said.
