Small business e-commerce Website Alibaba.com has announced is partnering with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to organize training programmes for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the State of Gujarat, reports India Info Online.
The training programme, called ‘Breaking the Barriers and Stimulating Growth’, the report said, would include seminars and workshops aimed at creating increased awareness about the marketability of technical textiles in national and international markets. Participants were to be taught to use the power of the Internet.
The city of Surat hosted the event on February 15 and 16. Gujarat is home to over four lakh SMEs, spanning a large number of industries. The technical textiles industry is an industry that is growing rapidly. Alibaba.com sees a strong potential in the involvement of the technical textiles sector in B2B commerce.
“Alibaba.com has always been committed to helping SMEs find international markets for their products and stay competitive through the Internet. Alibaba.com’s partnership with the FICCI for this event is instrumental in reaching the right target audience to educate them about the power of e-commerce,” stated Nayan Thakkar, Manager, Sales and Customer Service.
Alibaba.com is hopeful about more collaboration with the FICCI, to help educate SMEs in Gujarat to be globally competitive and expand their business beyond the boundaries of the country.
