Adani Agrifresh to procure 22,000 tonnes of apples from Himachal

Agro commodities trading house Adani Agrifresh plans to procure 22,000 tonnes of apples in Himachal Pradesh this season, a company official said. "This year's procurement will start from August 16," Deputy General Manager Sanjay Mahajan told IANS. He said that the apple crop this year was good, and that the company was hoping to achieve its procurement target.

Sugar output to decline by one million tonne

India's sugar output is likely to drop by one million tonne to 25 million tonnes in the marketing year beginning October 1 due to poor rainfall in key producing states, especially Maharashtra and Karnataka, the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) said. However, there will be enough stocks to meet domestic demand, ISMA said.

Crisil lowers India's growth forecast

Research and ratings agency Crisil has cut India's economic growth forecast to 5.5 percent for the 2012-13 financial year from its earlier estimate of 6.5 percent, citing deficient monsoon and worsening Eurozone crisis. It also raised India's core inflation forecast to eight percent for this fiscal from the seven percent announced earlier.
