In 2004, the industrialist from Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region) realised that there was a need of a collaborative approach among the industries with respect to putting forward the entrepreneurs’ voice in policy making. They also felt that a strong platform was needed for the entrepreneurs’ knowledge sharing, advocacy and much more. Hence, the NCR Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) was established in 2004.
Over the last nine years, this association emerged as a proactive and dynamic organisation, working at the grass-root level with strong national and international linkages. NCCI acts as a catalyst in the promotion of industry, trade and entrepreneurship. Its research-based policy and advocacy role positively impacts the economic growth and development of the nation.
HP Yadav, founder president of NCCI is a seasoned entrepreneur himself and has won two national awards in consecutive years. He received ‘Excellence & Performance’ award in 2003 from the Honourable Vice President of India and in 2004, he was awarded with ‘Quality’ award by the then Prime Minister of India.
NCCI works as a nodal agency which provides networking opportunities to its members, so that they could develop relationships with Government officials, diplomats and other leading names from all spheres of life. The chamber operates through various expert committees/task forces, comprising of representatives of member companies and experts. Views of the chamber are formulated on topical issues through deliberations in these committees/task forces. These include national and regional economic and industry related issues, corporate affairs, taxation, finance and banking, capital markets, infrastructure and energy, labour and industrial relations, human resources and skill development, tourism, agri-business, environment, etc.
In an exclusive interaction with SupportBiz, HP Yadav, president of NCCI said, “There is a need for collaborative approach. Entrepreneurs from the NCR region need strong positioning and by knowing each other’s expertise, issues, opportunities, success stories etc., they learn things fast. The chamber also provides information on business opportunities abroad and a platform to interact with visiting foreign business delegations.”
The chamber office is located in Gurgaon, with the in-house expertise of giving business related and legal advice to entrepreneurs on most aspects of their business.
