Work responsibilities – Your Organization Chart

One of the major challenges of most of the SMEs has been the availability of a second line to support the implementation/execution of the owner’s plans. Firstly, it is difficult for them to attract right talent and than to retain the same. The main reason has been – most organizations organize work allocation around personalities rather than around functions. That is, around people rather than accountabilities or responsibilities. The result is almost always chaos.

Learn to love budgeting

Have you ever thought how much homework is required if one is planning a holiday for 15 days for family? It is more so when planning the same for a group of 30 to 40 people. If that is so, why not plan for a business – when there is so much at stake? Okay, let us accept this – most business owners do not create budgets. This is suicidal, but true.

Managing time for growth

“I am busy in an important meeting. Could you please go with the children for the movie? If possible, I will join you later for dinner.” This was from me to my wife on a Saturday afternoon, and for the second time in a very short span of time. However, in my career as SME Financial Advisor and Growth Navigator, I have found this to be the situation with almost all SME owners, most of the time.

Business vs. personal credit

As a business grows from a start-up to a micro enterprise, managing the struggling on all fronts is an achievable task, including the arrangement of finance, which is mostly obtained from personal sources. However, as one experiences or anticipates big growth, it impacts all aspects of business. Growing big means bigger challenges and changes. It is also likely that the entrepreneur will need to raise a substantial amount of money, depending on the type of business he/she is in.
