With the SME sector emerging as the key growth catalyst, there is a rise in demand for IT-enabled services. As the need for connectivity grows, what matters the most is the quality of connectivity. In a conversation with Supportbiz, Tata Teleservices president Prateek Pashine said that "all SMEs are connected today but they may not have the best connectivity’.
SB:What is the revenue share of enterprises in Tata Teleservices business?
Prateek: In the overall telecom space, 15-17% of revenue is contributed by the enterprise business. As for Tata telecom service, 30% of the total revenues comes from \
SB: Is it challenging to connect all SMEs?
Prateek: All SMEs are connected but they may not have the best connectivity. For eg: They have wireless and they want highspeed wire line network which has a constant growth. In some shape and form 100% enterprises are connected on higher bandwidth that we will cater to through our growth plans. It's not just about connectivity it is ‘how else can you simplify my life and simplify my employees life and how else can you provide the wow factor to our customer by the use of technology.'
SB: How has Tata Teleservices performed in the SME Sector?
Prateek: Industry is growing 7-8% and we are growing double digits. Creating channel partners and conversations has helped our growth in the industry.
SB:What are the strategies of Tata Teleservices to boost “start-up India Stand Up India” Campaign?
Prateek: We are creating models for them so that they are start big. We have partnered with most startups in India and our main aim is “how we can make them connected faster and quicker “.
SB:How has Tata Teleservices ensured the adoption of SMAC (Social Media, Mobility, Analytics and cloud)?
Prateek: We are seeing a clear need emerging amongst our customers for solutions related to social, enterprise mobility, big data and the cloud. Mobility and social media are beginning to play a significant role in defining the way an enterprise engages not only with their customers but employees as well. The increase in internet penetration and usage coupled with seamless web access via mobile and increasing availability of affordable smart devices(tablets and mobile phones) has led to a number of business owners turn to mobile applications and social media for running their businesses and creating customized services for their customers.
