Nagpur, January 3: The National Agriculture Exhibition, organised to commemorate the birth centenary of former Maharashtra Chief Minster Vasantrao Naik, is scheduled to be held from February Feb 9-13 at the 45-acre sprawling premises of Central Institute of Cotton Research (CICR) at Panjri near here.
Grand preparations are underway for the event which is jointly organized by the Union Agriculture Ministry and the state government. Citing unnamed sources, Zee News reports that Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has conceptualised the basic concept of this expo.
Major companies in the field of agriculture and associated sectors from all over India will put up their stalls at the exhibition. The Additional Chief Secretary of Agriculture and Marketing, Maharashtra Government informed that the administration expects nearly 50,000-60,000 farmers from across the country to visit the exhibition daily.
The high-level meeting, held to review the preparations, was presided over by Divisional Commissioner Venugopal Reddy and was attended by the chairmen of different committees formed for the purpose including Electricity Supply Committee, Water Supply and Sanitation Committee, Food Arrangement Committee, Transport Arrangement Committee, Lodging Arrangements Committee.
The mega expo is considered to be the ideal platform for farmers, researchers and entrepreneurs to showcase their products and to get to know more about the opportunities in the agro business sector.
