Narayan Rane Assures Action on VIA's Demands

 
Rane assured that hike in power tariff would be withdrawn and the issue of high water rates will also be paid heed to.

New Delhi, 20 December 2013: Ports, employment and self-employment, industry minister of Maharashtra Narayan Rane assured Vidhan Sabha that the hike in power tariff would be withdrawn. He further assured that the State Government will look into the matter of high water prices and will come up with a solution to the problem soon. He also stated that “Udyog Mitra” Conference will be held in Nagpur this year instead of Mumbai, reports Nagpurtoday.

In an interactive meeting with the industrialists in the Vidharbha Industries Association (VIA), yesterday, Rane, discussed the problems of industrialists which are adversely affecting the interests of industries and hampering their development in Vidarbha region. He also discussed the problems hampering overall development in Maharshtra. VIA on this occasion submitted a memorandum of their demands to Narayan Rane which  included open access to power, relook at environmental clearance and land transfer in MIDC, setting up large heavy engineering industry for Vidarbha, infrastructure project, food park, VAT refund and others.

Prominent people like VIA members and associations such as BMA, MIA, KIA, Umred MIA, Federation Amravati All Industries Association, shared their problems, suggestions and proposal with the industry minister. The meeting was attended by all the association members. Narayan Rane, Industry Secretary of Maharashtra, Apurva Chandra and Chief Executive Officer of MIDC Bhushan Gagrani were welcomed by VIA President Prafull Doshi.

BJP MLA Devendra Fadnavis during a Call Attention Motion of the Vidhan Sabha drew the attention of Government by stating that the industries in Hingna and Butibori MIDC areas have been facing enormous difficulties on all fronts. He further added by stating that many new industrialists have also been hesitant to set up their units following several odds.

“The competitiveness has taken a severe beating due to unjustifiable and steep hike in power tariff. He demanded withdrawal of hiked electricity tariff, methodological implementation of water rates, providing Consent for Establishment concerning CEPT, organizing of “Udyog Mitra” Conference in Nagpur instead of Mumbai and extending relief to industries in Hingna MIDC area by positive approach over levying of various taxes apart from development duty recovered by the Government,” Fadnavis asserted in the House while speaking on his Call Attention Motion, reports the Nagpurtoday.
