Nagpur, Jan 13: As many as 5 lakh farmers from across the country are likely to attend the national-level farmers meet and exhibition titled ‘Krishi Vasat’ in Nagpur between Feb 9 and 13.
Calling it the ‘Mahakumbh’ (Kumbha Mhela) for farmers, Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar made the announcement on Monday. The exhibition-cum-meet will be jointly organised by the Union Agriculture Ministry, the Maharashtra government and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
"Indian agriculture sector has seen 3.64 percent growth rate and we now have 260 million tonnes of food grain that is enough to feed the country and export," Pawar said. Farmers travelling for the event will get 50 percent concession from the Indian Railways.
