Indian business delegation to visit China

A 40-member business delegation, led by Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC) president Niranjan Hiranandani, will visit China for an annual flagship event April 8-12, an IMC official said.

IMC's annual flagship event 'India Calling China Business Partnership Summit' will be held in China's Shanghai and Guangzhou cities.

The delegation will include union Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi as chief guest, political leaders, bureaucrats, corporate honchos from various industry and trade sectors and educationists from leading Indian universities, the IMC official added.

"Over the past few years, there have been continuous exchanges of high-level visits including the visits of presidents and prime ministers of both the countries with the objective of intensifying bilateral trade, and giving greater content to India-China partnership," Hiranandani said.

"The objective of organising IMC's conference in China is to take advantage of this momentum to better understand the emerging business milieu; to explore areas where opportunities exist for Indian businessmen; and to facilitate delegates from both sides to forge business partnerships through conferences, pre-arranged business meetings, industry visits and networking events with industry and government leaders," he added.

The focus of the conference is to attract Chinese investment into major infrastructure projects in India. It will also deliberate how to narrow the trade gap between the two countries.
