India’s patented technology wins InterSolar Award 2013

Clique Solar, pioneers in the off-grid solar thermal technology, has been awarded the Intersolar Europe Award 2013 for their innovative technology – ARUN®, in the Solar Thermal Technologies category.

The award was presented to Clique Solar at world’s largest solar industry exhibition, the Intersolar Europe’s Innovation Exchange, in Munich.

Clique Solar has become the first Indian company to win this prestigious award.

ARUN® is India’s only patented and commercially proven technology in the domain of Concentrated Solar Thermal. The technology is applicable to industrial processes where heat from steam or hot oil is used to make processes. As of now, the steam or the heat required is obtained from furnace oil, LPG, Diesel, PNG and other fossil fuels which are adding to the costs. The two-axis dish concentrator ARUN®100 can heat water up to 250°C and produce steam at 20 bar pressure. It can also heat oil up to 300°C. The collector is suitable for a whole range of applications, such as cooking, comfort cooling, milk pasteurization, effluent treatment, water heating, etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Paranjape, Managing Director, Clique Solar, said, “Performance has been our key focus area and ARUN® is delivering on this count. We are happy and proud to know that India is leading the way in advancement of concentrated solar thermal domain as well.”

A total of 101 companies from 19 countries competed for this year’s Intersolar AWARD. By mid-May 2013, a total of 26 companies were nominated in the categories of Photovoltaics, Solar Thermal Technologies and Solar Projects in Europe. An independent jury composed of experts from research, science, industry and trade media selected the winners based on the degree of technological innovation, technical and environmental benefits, economic benefits, proof of innovation and presentation.
