20% Procurement From MSMEs Will Be Made Mandatory: Govt

 
This rule will be effective from April 1, 2015.

New Delhi: The Government has issued directions under the Public Procurement Policy for Micro and Small Enterprise (MSEs) Order 2012, to all the Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs), Central Government Ministries and Departments for an overall procurement of minimum of 20 per cent of products and services from Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) units.

Mishra said that communications are being issued from the ministry to all Central ministries, departments and PSUs to comply with all the provisions of the Public Procurement Policy for MSE, 2012, according to an official release.

In a bid to enhance procurement from MSEs, the communications are being issued from Ministry of MSME to all Central Ministries/Departments/CPSUs to comply with all the provisions of the Public Procurement Policy for MSE, Order 2012. and one to one interaction meetings are being made with CPSUs for enhancing procurement from MSEs

Govt has also constituted a review committee to review and monitor the achievements made under the policy. The committee would regularly submit a report to the MSME ministry about the analysis.
