Siemens PLM, Gujarat Govt. partner to create skill development centres

Siemens PLM Software India Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens Products Lifecycle Management Software Inc. has recently collaborated with the Ministry of Industries and Mines of Gujarat to develop five Centres of Excellence (CoE) for skill development in the state, reports Business Line.

According to Gujarat Industries Minister, Saurabh Patel, the five CoEs will be built at a cost of Rs 489 crores, of which Rs 85 crores will be contributed by the state government.

The Centres will train students on relevant industry processes and help create industry-ready trained personnel in various fields like automotive, industrial machinery, industrial automation, aerospace and defence and shipbuilding. This will not only provide employment to a large number of youngsters, but also will address the issue of skill shortages in the state.

The CoEs would stitch together the virtual world of engineering and manufacturing simulation with the physical world of product development and manufacturing.
