Bangalore is all set to welcome MSME DEFEXPO 2012, an exhibition for defence, aerospace, and homeland security products. The exhibition, which will be held from March 2 to 4, 2012, will be a unique opportunity for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the defence and aerospace sector to interact with some big names in these sectors.
Business to Business (B2B) sessions have also been scheduled as a part of the expo. MSME DEFEXPO 2012 is the second edition of the exhibition, conducted by the Ministry of MSMEs in co-ordination with the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC). Over 200 MSMEs from across India, half of them from Karnataka alone, are expected to participate in the exhibition this year. Boeing, Lockheed Martin, SAAB and Dassault Aviation are among the biggies expected to be present at the expo.
Udaya Kumar, Director, Planning and Marketing at NSIC, stated that MSMEs could ‘strike gold’ with the ‘right moves’, thanks to the opening up of the defence sector. “The global trends in knowledge, innovation, downsizing and networking have reduced the gap which had once separated large firms and MSMEs.
Compared to the first Expo in Hyderabad, the Bangalore one will be one opportunity for MSMEs to hear from the masters in defence production, said Kumar. A day-long technical workshop will be organized on March 3, which will cover a whole host of topics, including certification and opportunities with global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
