Asia’s largest handicrafts fair, the Indian Handicrafts and Gifts Fair (IHGF), will open on February 18, 2012, at the India Expo Centre and Mart on the Greater Noida Expressway in New Delhi.
This is the 33rd edition of the fair, a flagship event of the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH). The four-day event will be inaugurated by Dr. Rahul Khullar, Commerce Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
Several dignitaries from the handicrafts sector, buyers from a number of countries, buying agents of foreign companies located in India, government officials, as well as media representatives from India and abroad will be present at the inauguration. The Expo this year will have more than 2,300 exhibitors from 28 states, with about 950 product lines, designs, styles, raw materials and concepts on display, states Arvind Vadhera, Chairman of the Council.
The emphasis will be on recycled and eco-friendly products, stated Vadhera.
Houseware, decorative items, gifts, fashion jewelry, bags and other accessories, items of cane and bamboo, eco-friendly products, Christmas decorations, candles, joss sticks, furnishings, furniture and home textiles will be on exhibition. A special display by the State of Jammu & Kashmir is the highlight of this year's event. The Expo is expected to generate a huge amount of export orders, as well as serious trade enquiries for various products.
