Nagpur Traders Call for Bandh on 13th December

The Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) convened a meeting of the LBT Virodhi Sangarsh Samiti on the 8th December 2013.

It was decided thata one day Nagpur bandh would be observed by all traders in the city on 13th December 2013. On this day a Bhavya Morcha of the trading community will march from Variety Square to the Vidhan Sabha to submit a memorandum to withdraw the LBT to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan.

Mohan Gurnani, President, Federation of Association of Maharashtra (FAM) addressed the audience and appraised them about the situation of LBT in the state. Nagpur Times reported Gurnani saying that out of the 26 Corporations in the state LBT has been implemented in 25 corporations, out of which in 24 corporations the experiment has failed. He further said that that a delegation of FAM led by Dipen Agrawal, President NVCC had a meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Vice President, AICC and briefed him about the problems being faced by the trading community. Mr Gandhi, according to Gurnani, was requested to petition the Chief Minister of Maharashtra to withdraw LBT.

The meeting was attended by the executive committee, Presidents and Secretaries of all trade associations of the Chamber. All members were requested to use the opportunity of the winter session of the state assembly held in Vidarbha to make another push to halt the LBT regime.
