Micro and small beedi manufacturers in Odisha’s Sambalpur district are worried over the proposed ban on the manufacturing, sale and use of tobacco products -- such as gutka and pan masala -- in that state.

The Maharashtra government has banned the sale and distribution of Bt cotton seeds by a US multinational giant in the state, a top official said. "The government has banned the Mahyco company with immediate effect," Pune-based state Agriculture Commissioner Umakant Dangat told IANS.
